President Barack Obama, So Awesome…

There, I said it. It feels so good. I can’t remember the last time I felt this hopeful for our future. Someone who relates to the things that we relate to and sees the world the way that we see the world is going to lead us. It feels like not like a turning of a page but a opening of an entirely new book. We have a different future because of this. When our grandkids are our age, they won’t be able to envision a world where a minority or a woman can’t be President of the United States of America.

No matter what side you’re on in this election, you are sitting with us all at the gates of history. The world after this is a different place. We are finally one people in the eyes of the man at the helm of the most powerful country on Earth.

It’s not just the racial and generational symbol, either. With the election of Barack Obama, we have his wife, Michelle and his children. They are a genuinely loving and caring family. Can you remember the last time that we had such an open, affectionate and loving couple being the face of our country and our government. The message that it sends to us as citizens is powerful enough, can you imagine it’s effect on the world?

I don’t know, most of this is probably hyperbolic crap, but I can’t help it. I feel so good about my country and our future right now. I just can’t believe that this has happened in my lifetime. I can’t imagine that, if we chose to have children, they would grow up in a world where a black man is or has been President.

I just feel so good right now. So good.
