Alan Grayson and Inequity

Alan Grayson, I had heard little about you before this, but I already love where you’re coming from. Now, if you can turn some of your vitriol toward your fellow Dems to get them off their asses and working, for real, on getting a strong public option into a health care plan and getting Americans back to work.

Look, I could give a shit if it was a Republican or a Democrat saying these things. The truth doesn’t need a political party, it just needs someone with a spine to give it a voice. More and more people are being reduced to the poorhouse in our country because they lost their job or they had some health problem and are now paying out the nose for something that should be a basic right. Meanwhile, the very people who are supposed to represent our interests, on both sides of the isle, are dicking around and covering their own asses.

Fuck these people. Except for Alan Grayson.

The Declaration of Independence states that the inalienable rights imbued to every American are those of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We can all agree on that, right? Well, all three of those are infringed upon when a person a) can’t afford health care or b) can afford health care but can’t pay the bills for their care. If you can’t live a healthy life, you’re deprived of life, if you can’t enjoy your life because of health problems or the crushing weight of health care bills, you are denied happiness and if you can’t pay those bills and you lose your worldly possessions, you’re denied liberty.

How people can argue that everyone, EVERYONE, in this country doesn’t deserve health care is beyond me. Fuck you people, fuck your lives.
